Saturday was wall-to-wall car lovers this last Saturday as the Lone Star Deluxe Hotrod and Music Festival geared up with spicy crawdaddys by the bucketful, foot stompin’ music and some of the most beautiful hot rods this side of Heaven! All up and down 6th Street shiny hotrods in every color shape and size gleamed in the sunshine as crowds of people, young and old strolled up and down the street munching on funnel cake and hotdogs and sipping craft beer and lemonade. Classics from the 40’s and 50’s all the way up to the early 70’s were rumbling a tune of their own as local vendors offered their wares. Now referred to as “The Other 6th Street” this little section of town is certainly showing it deserves the comparison. With special events like this and regular venues like America’s Icehouse, Downtown Restaurant,
Hey Mikey’s, Campeche Coffee that now has wonderful smoothies, and now Bronco Burrito adding new neighbors like Snow King Shaved Ice and KB Bowls, there is a pretty solid variety of food choices. And while you are down here, you can go antiquing, visit the thrift shops and Urban Gypsy and its sister shop, Karat Creations have unique and beautiful items you won’t find anywhere else. 6th Street definitely attracts the artists and entrepreneurs and from the looks of it, this is gonna be a busy summer with lots of exciting things happening down here. So watch this space and don’t forget to check out Downtown 6th Street on Facebook for more exciting events to come!
