Rockets road to NBA Finals starts with Jazz session
THE ROCKETS START THEIR quest to reach NBA Finals on Sunday night, opening a week that will
also be highlighted by the final game of the high school softball season and the continuation of
the Astros’ swing down the west coast, as they leave Seattle bound for a trip to Oakland.
Sunday: The road to the NBA Finals begins for the fourth-seeded Rockets, who open their
Western Conference quarterfinals series at home against fifth-seeded Jazz at 8:30pm. The
regular season series was split 2-2, with Utah winning the first two games before Houston
responded with a pair of convincing victories. TNT will air the national broadcast.
Houston’s professional sports day begins at 2:30pm when AT&T Sportsnet Southwest begins
the Astros’ pregame show that leads into their 3:00pm contest at the Mariners in the finale of
the weekend series. Gerrit Cole (0-2, 3.32 ERA) takes the mound for the Astros and will be
countered by Seattle hurler Marco Gonzales (4-0, 3.16 ERA).
Monday: There is high school baseball and softball on the schedule, as Hitchcock visits East
Bernard. The Bulldogs softball team hits the field at 5:30pm while the baseball team begins play
at 7:00pm.
Texas City High School will honor its 2018-19 tennis team with a banquet at the Showboat
Pavilion beginning at 6:00pm.
Tuesday: The final day of the high school softball regular season will see Alvin at Clear Brook,
Clear Creek at Clear Falls, Clear Lake at Clear Springs, Friendswood at Crosby, Baytown Lee at
Galveston Ball and Texas City at Santa Fe. Each game will begin at 6:30pm.
In high school baseball, Alvin at Clear Brook, Clear Falls at Clear Creek and Clear Springs at Clear
Lake each begin at 6:00pm. Galveston Ball at Friendswood, Santa Fe at Goose Creek Memorial
and Crosby at Texas City each start at 7:00pm.
Houston begins the second leg of an eight-game, three-city road trip when they visit the
Athletics beginning at 9:07pm. Collin McHugh (2-1, 2.65 ERA) takes the mound for the Astros
while Oakland is slated to start Frankie Montas (2-1, 3.18 ERA). AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will
air the game starting with the pregame show at 8:30pm.
