DICKINSON COMES INTO THE 2019 high school football regular season ranked 19th in MaxPreps.com’s Texas Class 6A Rankings while also earning a spot among the state’s top 40 squads, opening at 34th overall.

The Gators, who finished 10-2 last season, are the highest-ranked team in the area and the only squad ranked in the top 100. They will have a chance to make a huge statement on September 6 when coach John Snelson’s squad travels to Allen to face the state’s third-ranked team who has gone 105-4 since the start of the 2011 season. The Eagles are one of 10 teams in state that cracked the national top 100, opening the season at 20th overall.

Clear Springs, the three-time defending District 24-6A regular season champion, just missed cracking the top 100 as the Chargers came in at 101st overall. Like Dickinson, Springs will have an early opportunity to stake its claim among the state’s elite when they welcome 18th ranked Converse Judson to Challenger-Columbia Stadium in their regular season opener on August 31.

Friendswood was the highest-ranked of the area’s 5A teams, coming in at 112th overall. The Mustangs reside in a District 10-5A-1 that includes Shadow Creek, the state’s 12th-ranked team that comes off a trip to the state championship game last season. The two teams collide at Shadow Creek on October 18.

The rest of the area’s teams were ranked as follows:

Clear Falls: 285th overall.

Clear Creek, 293rd

Clear Brook, 335th

Santa Fe, 378th

Hitchcock, 432nd

Texas City, 443rd

Galveston Ball, 631st

La Marque, 822nd
