Former Galveston Ball High School alum Casey Hampton was among a select list of players that were nominated on Wednesday for potential induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Hampton played 12 seasons (2001-12) with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who drafted him out of the University of Texas in the first round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He was a four-time Pro Bowl selection who also appeared in three Super Bowls with the Steelers, winning two.
The nominees will be trimmed down to 25 semifinalist in November and down to 15 finalist in January. The Hall’s Class of 2021 will be announced the day before the Super Bowl.
