Friday, during a special ceremony at McAdams Junior High, a memorial bench honoring the life of Andrew Weyers was unveiled and installed near the running track.

Andrew, who tragically passed away on his 14th birthday on November 21, 2019, attended McAdams Junior High for seventh and eighth grade, and was an active member of the football team.

The Dickinson Education Foundation accepted donations in honor of Andrew’s life, with the expectation that the funds would be used to honor his memory.

In addition to the bench, Andrew’s family requested that remaining funds be used for a senior scholarship for the Dickinson High School Class of 2024, which is the year Andrew would have graduated. In three years, a senior will have the gift of helping continue his or her education thanks to the generosity of Andrew’s family and friends.

In attendance at the ceremony was Andrew’s mother, Janice Weyers; his grandparents, Myron and Janete Luckenback; his aunt, Jackie Summers; and his cousin, Annika.
