TEXAS CITY – Texas City ISD promotes from within for the new Director of the TCISD Foundation for the Future and Community Relations. Geny White, currently the coordinator of student assessment and resources, will replace Christina Hall-Payne who left this month to operate her family’s businesses.
“Mrs. White is deeply rooted in the Texas City ISD community,” said Superintendent Melissa Duarte, Ed.D. “Her experience in curriculum and instruction gives her an inside advantage to knowing exactly what our teachers need to help them to be successful in the classroom. This will be a huge benefit when talking to donors about how they can invest in our students and in securing external grants.”
White joined Texas City ISD 16 years ago as a 4th grade teacher at Heights Elementary. She’s also held the roles of elementary instructional specialist, coordinator of elementary education and coordinator of student assessment and resources.
She is a graduate of Texas City High School. She has her Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Houston Clear Lake, her Masters of Science in Instructional Technology from UHCL and her Educational Leadership certification from Lamar University.
“Geny has a real enthusiasm for this community, which was one of the things that drew us to her,” said Texas City ISD Foundation for the Future President Jami Clark. “She’s a proven leader in TCISD and I think she will do a great job raising funds to enhance learning opportunities for the students.”
The Texas City ISD Foundation for the Future was established to support the educational programs for both students and staff of the Texas City Independent School District. The Foundation provides funds for educational programs and activities which either have not been funded or have been underfunded by the normal operating budget. These funds are used to facilitate student achievement and skill development, to recognize and encourage staff excellence, and to expand community involvement of individuals, businesses and civic organizations.
