I find myself at times saying, “Lord, I need you right now.”
Is there anyone else that needs the Lord Jesus to show up right now for them?
The definition of “Need” is a lack of something required (food, water) or desirable: a need for affection (love), or a need for resources (condition of poverty or misfortune).
In May 2002, Smokie Norful released the song “I Need You Now.” Some of the words are:
“Not a second or another minute, not an hour or another day.
“But at this moment with my arms outstretched, I need you to make a way as you have done so many times before.”
The words to this song are so true at this moment for many of us. There is so much going on every single day. Families trying to provide a safe home (don’t have rent money, or house payment, not enough food on the table). Someone needs a better job or others just need a job (gas prices are increasing, no transportation). We don’t know what the next minute will be like (road rage, drive-by shootings, winter storms, floods, wildfires, people in Ukraine leaving their homes with only what they can take in their hands or on their backs, and the potential of war with Russia).
Lord, help us. We need you right now!
1Peter 5: 7 tells us, “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” This means give all of it to Jesus because He cares. There is nothing too small or too large.” A summary of Matthew 7:7-11 Jesus says, “ask and it will be given; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you. if a man on earth gives to his children good things how much more will your father in Heaven give good things to those who ask Him.” Jesus owns everything and there is no lack, so ask Him to help and let Him know you need him right now.
We all will have trials and tribulations and feel like we can’t see our way through at times. It’s when we use wisdom and acknowledge and realize we can’t do it without the Lord’s help. So, cry out “Lord, I need you right now!”
“Right Now” situations when God came through:
- Exodus 14: 21-22 — Running from Pharaoh’s army, the children of Israel needed God to part the red sea, right then.
- 1 Samuel 17: 45:49 — David standing before Goliath needed God to be with him right then.
- Genesis 37: 18-27 — When Joseph’s brothers wanted to kill him, Joseph needed God right then to give Reuben compassion to not kill him.
- Luke 7: 1-10 — The centurion needed Jesus to heal his servant right then.
- Acts 28: 3-5 — Paul being bit by a deadly snake needed God to be with him right then. He shook the snake off without being affected.
- Matthew 8:23 -26 — The disciples in the boat in the storm needed Jesus to speak peace to the storm right then.
- Matthew 9:20-22 — A woman that had been bleeding for 12 years needed Jesus right then to cure her.
- Matthew 9:27-30 — Two blind men wanted Jesus to give them sight right then.
God is still a “right now” God.
