Yesterday evening, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush sent the attached letter to the United States Army Corps of Engineers urging the Corps to consider not only a 30-day extension to the public comment period, the creation of a second meeting for Bolivar Island (now limited to 250 attendees’ due to fire code) and a second public comment period, to be held after the public comments are incorporated and the recommended plan is made public. Commissioner Bush is clear in his letter: “The intent of the public comment period is to receive ideas and concerns from the citizens of Texas. Constituent feedback is a vital part of this process, and I applaud all those who have come forward to make their voices heard.” “It is my sincere hope that the USACE considers not only an extension and addition to the public comment period but the inclusion of a second meeting for Bolivar Island.”
