There are more than enough sports on the schedule that will be heated on Tuesday with basketball, baseball, golf, soccer and softball filling the day. The other two days aren’t bad at all, making this a great way to start the week.
Sunday: The Rockets visit the Pelicans in the first of a home-and-home series between the teams. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will have coverage with the pregame show at 5:30pm, with the game beginning at 6:00pm.
Monday: Both the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams of Galveston Ball and Texas City are in action in a make-up match that was postponed on Friday due to cold weather. The boys’ match is in Galveston, while the girls’ will be in Texas City. Both matches begin at 7:30pm.
A number of baseball teams begin the 2022 season with scrimmages. Galveston Ball and North Shore scrimmage at Clear Creek at 3:00pm, while Dickinson at Texas City and Friendswood at Lutheran South each start at 5:00pm.
The Texas City boys’ golf team is at Bay Oaks in a meet hosted by Clear Lake, while the Stings’ girls are at South Shore Harbour Country Club in a meet hosted by Clear Creek.
Tuesday: Boys’ high school hoops begins at 6:00pm with East Bernard at state-ranked Hitchcock, followed by Clear Springs at state-ranked Clear Brook, Brazoswood at Clear Falls, state-ranked Dickinson at Clear Lake, Baytown Sterling at Friendswood, state-ranked La Marque at Sweeny, Santa Fe at La Porte and Texas City at Goose Creek Memorial at 7:00pm.
In girls’ high school basketball, Sweeny at La Marque gets underway at 5:00pm, with East Bernard at Hitchcock at 6:30pm. State-ranked Clear Brook at Clear Springs, Clear Falls at Brazoswood, Clear Lake at Dickinson, Friendswood at Baytown Sterling, La Porte at Santa Fe and Goose Creek Memorial at Texas City each start at 7:00pm.
The night in boys’ soccer will have Clear Brook at Dickinson, Clear Lake at Clear Creek, Clear Springs at Brazoswood, Friendswood at Baytown Sterling, Texas City at Galveston Ball, and La Porte at Santa Fe each beginning at 7:30pm.
Meanwhile, the girls’ high school soccer schedule has Dickinson at Clear Brook, Clear Creek at Clear Lake, Brazoswood at Clear Springs, Baytown Sterling at Friendswood, Galveston Ball at Texas City, and Santa Fe at La Porte at 7:30pm.
There’s high school softball scrimmages on the docket, with Brazosport at Hitchcock beginning at 6:00pm, followed by Galveston Ball at Clear Brook, Brazoswood at Dickinson, Brazos at Santa Fe and Danbury at Texas City at 6:30pm. Friendswood at Terry and La Marque’s tri-scrimmage with Houston Heights at Fort Bend Willowridge have yet to announce times.
In high school baseball, South Houston at Santa Fe starts at 4:00pm, while La Marque at Hitchcock goes at 5:00pm.
Hitchcock’s golf team heads off to Sugar Land, where they will take part in a meet at Sweetwater Country Club that is hosted by Fort Bend Clements.
