Anchor Point (AP) is excited to bring “The Empowered to Connect (ETC) Conference
Simulcast” to the Houston area (in partnership with ShowHopeTM, an adoption centered
nonprofit organization founded by multi-award winning musician, Steven Curtis Chapman
and his wife Mary Beth, a best-selling author). The ETC simulcast is a two-day conference
that will be held on Friday & Saturday, April 13-14th in League City. This conference allows
people to experience practical teaching in a safe and supportive community. We work to
equip families, churches, and professionals to better serve children. Last year, more than
375 different locations in 46 states hosted the live simulcast, and this year Anchor Point is
proud to, once again, be a host site for the Houston & Galveston area. This 2-day event
features Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI) methods developed by Dr. Karyn
Purvis and Dr. David Cross from the TCU Institute of Child Development, this conference
helps bring attachment and connection in families. Attendees will learn how to connect
with children from hard places in order to help children heal and become all that God
intended. We especially know that kids who have experienced abuse, neglect, or trauma
are among those that struggle, but TBRI works well even with children that are not struggling.
Regardless of whether the child is in a biologically intact home or from an adoptive
home, each child needs help and hope from caregivers and advocates to ultimately
thrive in this world. Topics to be covered: Hope & Help for The Journey | Understanding A
Child’s History and Its Impact |The Role of Parent History and Expectations in Connecting
| The Attachment Dance | Understanding Sensory Process | The Neurochemistry of Fear
| Helping Family Find the Education/Support They Need | Foundations for Behavioral
Change. CEU credits are available for professionals. Anchor Point is a multi-faceted
501c(3) that delivers hope to families, including pregnant teens and women, babies on the
way, troubled youth and their families, foster and adopted children, and families considering
adoption. Services offered by AP include prenatal and parenting classes, pre-adoption
classes, and support groups for post-abortion recovery, sexual abuse recovery and
miscarriage and loss grief support. Additionally, AP hosts its “Pathway to Hope” family
camp providing valuable skills for children from hard places and their families. AP serves
the Clear Lake area from three locations – League City, Webster, and, Seabrook, TX.
Early bird tickets are $35 for individuals before March 1 and $45 individual registration.
Registration is available at, or contact Rendie at 832-632-
