Silver stages is a new theatre program that is specifically designed to give actors ages 55+ the opportunity to be actively involved in theatre productions at Bay Area Harbour Playhouse.

Our first production will be “A Bad Year For Tomatoes” by John Patrick, directed by Charlotte Jackson. Auditions are March 1st and 2nd at 1:30 pm. Performances are May 16th and 17th at 2:30. All rehearsals will be during the afternoon starting at 1:30 on the Main Stage.

“A Bad Year For Tomatoes” by John Patrick is a 2 act comedy about Myra, A famous Hollywood television actress who retires to a New England village to write her memoirs and raise tomatoes. Annoyed by nosy neighbors, she uses her acting skills to invent a crazy sister to scare them away and is accused of her murder when she disappears.

Need 4 Females, 2 Males, 1 M/F – Ages 55+

Myra – funny, talented aging television actress, serious about retiring and having a garden.

Tom – Myra’s charming, witty agent. Several years younger than Myra, and has strong romantic feelings for her.

Piney – uneducated, does odd jobs: chops wood, sells manure, and falls in love with Myra’s crazy sister Sadie.

Willa Mae – The village Mystic who cast spells, reads tea leaves, and has visions.

Cora – nosy next door neighbor, loves whiskey in her tea and has problems with her marriage.

Reba – nosy neighbor who loves to bake pies and spread gossip.

Sheriff – m/f small village police officer trying to find Myra’s crazy sister.
