TEXAS CITY, TX – The City of Texas City is kicking off the Christmas season this weekend with the
Mayor’s Tree Lighting event, which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. in the front lawn of
City Hall (1801 9th Avenue N.).
Mayor Dedrick D. Johnson will be joined by Santa Claus to flip the light switch on the Christmas
tree and decorations. Afterwards, there will be photo opportunities with Santa, as well as hot
chocolate, a candy bar and goodie bags to enjoy.
Local musical groups will perform a selection of Christmas music throughout the evening.
“With all of the Christmas lights and decorations, the visit from Santa, the music, the candy and,
most importantly, everyone in the community coming together to celebrate, this event is the
perfect way to start the holiday season,” said Jennifer Laird, Communications Director for the city.
“We have so many amazing events planned throughout the Christmas season; this one sets the
tone for all the fun that is coming in the next few weeks.”
The Mayor’s Tree Lighting is a free event, and everyone in the community is invited to attend. For
more information, please visit the City of Texas City’s website at www.texascitytx.gov.
